Many actors have had the honor of playing super spy James Bond. However, Daniel Craig has become one of the best. After finishing up Spectre, which came out in 2015, Craig was sure his time as 007 had come to an end. Lucky for us, he may still return for another round.
Daniel Craig first appeared as James Bond in 2006 in Casino Royale. After that, he reprised the role in Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre. Though fans loved Craig’s Bond (possibly even more than they loved Sean Connery in the role), Craig himself wasn’t too happy about continuing.
When doing press for Spectre, Craig went so far as to say he’d “rather slash [his] wrists” than play James Bond another time. Producers like Barbara Broccoli and Callum McDougall were desperate to get him back, though. Rumors surfaced of Craig getting enormous sums of money thrown at him to come back. He supposedly said even 150 million pounds for two more films wouldn’t cut it.
Now, however, he seems to have been persuaded. The Daily Mirror is reporting that Broccoli has convinced Daniel Craig to play James Bond yet again. “It’s taken time but Daniel has come round and the strong consensus in the Bond offices is that Mr. Craig is 007 again,” a source said.
The source also added that the producers are working hard to get Adele to sign on again as well. Adele performed the theme for Skyfall, which wound up winning big at the Grammys and Golden Globes.
The source said, “Craig and Adele together are the winning team, the ultimate choice, the money spinners…As for Adele, she’s more of an unknown quantity but loved being part of Bond, so the signs are positive.”
So while some may argue over who the best Bond ever is, there’s no doubt that Daniel Craig is the highest paid.
