Marvel, Marvel, Marvel, Marvel, Marvel! We can’t get enough Marvel! And we’re obviously not the only ones, since Marvel Studios keeps churning out more and more projects. Though the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked things off on the big screen, there have been several shows creeping onto television–lucky for us, The Inhumans will hit both.
The newest Marvel TV series is scheduled to launch on ABC in 2017, but before then, it will hit IMAX theaters across the nation. The first two episodes of The Inhumans were shot on IMAX cameras, so they’ll screen back to back in September 2017. Those who can’t get to the theaters have nothing to worry about, however. The first two episodes will also air as planned on ABC, no theater trips required.
Now on to the really fun part about The Inhumans–the plot! Following in the wake of ABC/Marvel collaboration shows like Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., this new series has a lot to live up to in terms of fan popularity. However, it might take the cake for having the coolest plot so far.
The Inhumans revolves around a group of scientific test subjects who conveniently developed superpowers from the experiments. Now, they live together in an extraterrestrial society located off of Earth. The comic books, which this story is based on, feature tons of interesting and fun characters, but as of now, it isn’t clear which characters will make the cut for the TV show.
There were also tentative plans for an Inhumans movie scheduled for July 2019, but it was mysteriously pulled from Marvel’s schedule. With the whole host of other new content the superpowered studio has to offer, we hopefully won’t be missing too much.
Just recently, they launched a new Netflix series called Luke Cage, and they’ve got Iron Fist set to premiere in March. Meanwhile, Legion, an X-Men spin-off, will be airing on FX in February of 2017.
Clearly, Marvel’s got their bases covered.
