Just as there are mom-agers, there are also dads who get a little too into their children’s careers. One of those dads is LaVar Ball, who had some very choice words for Michael Jordan.
LaVar Ball is the father of Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo. Lonzo currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, but LaVar thinks he himself is the one who could take on Jordan.
“Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one,” he said. “I would just back him in and lift him off the ground and call a foul every time he fouls me when I do a jump hook to the right or the left. He cannot stop me one-on-one.”
He continued, “He better make every shot ’cause he can’t go around me. He’s not fast enough. And he can only make so many shots outside before I make every bucket under the rim.”
This commentary earned a lot of laughs from Michael Jordan’s fans. Apparently LaVar Ball only played one season in college, where he averaged 2.2 points per game for Washington State.
At first, Jordan kept quiet about the insult. But now he finally spoke up. Of course, the GOAT kept it classy, beginning by saying that every parent is proud of their children.
Then he added, “I would say if I had to sit down and talk to him right now, if he was here, I’d tell him to shut up, and let the kid play.” After some cheers from the audience, he continued, “You’ve got to understand the source. He played, I think … college maybe? He averaged, what 2.2 points a game? For real? It doesn’t dignify an answer, but I’ll give you one, because you asked a question: I don’t think he could beat me if I was one-legged.”
Bam! Until LaVar Ball can actually step up and compete, he should probably keep his insults to himself.
