Rock Never Dies: Elvis Presley Passes Up YouTube Favorites

Modern musicians may have the advantage of being accessible by social media, but stars from days gone by are also getting their music out there. On the anniversary of Elvis Presley‘s death, the rock legend passed up some modern favorites on YouTube.

According to Forbes, Presley has a total of 2.8 billion combined views across all of YouTube. That means he’s passed up the likes of Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Lana Del Rey and Whitney Houston.

In the past week alone, he’s averaged 4.4 million views a day. And the anniversary of his death isn’t the only time he’s seeing spikes in his listeners. Last year, there was a spike of 74 percent on his birthday in January.

The continued fan attention is paying off for Elvis Presley’s estate as well. Last year, Presley came in fourth on the Forbes List of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities. In total, he brought in $27 million.
