Game of Thrones has featured a who’s who of talented actors, but sadly, many of their characters end up dead. What would we expect from a show that chucked a young boy out a tower window in the very first episode? Thankfully, Tom Hardy‘s new show Taboo has snatched up some of the actors who bit the dust on Game of Thrones.
Taboo is an eight-episode mini-series set to debut on FX on January 10, and that date could not get here soon enough. Not only does it have a stellar cast, but it is based on an original idea from Tom Hardy himself and his father Chips Hardy. Ridley Scott and Stephen Knight are co-producing along with Hardy, so basically there’s no way this show could be a flop.
Along with Tom Hardy, Oona Chaplin (who briefly played Robb Stark’s wife on Game of Thrones) and Jonathan Pryce (formerly the High Sparrow) will star. Taboo is set in the early 1800s, where Hardy will be playing an adventurer that everyone previously assumed to be dead. However, like Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in The Revenant (which Hardy also starred in), he returns from death to come back to London, where he’s inherited his father’s shipping empire.
Of course, nobody can inherit a small fortune and return from the brink of life without making some enemies, and judging by the trailer, Tom Hardy’s character James Keziah Delaney is going to have to face off against some very nasty folks.
In keeping with the Game of Thrones theme, there also seems to be a heck of a lot of debauchery and killing. Not to mention, some random person in a pig mask shows up in the trailer.
Yes, they already announced that this would only be an eight episode mini series, but based on the trailer, it’s safe to say everybody would love for this to become a regular thing.
Unfortunately Tom Hardy probably has some other time commitments to honor that would get in the way of his filming schedule.
He’s already rumored to be starring in Fonzo as Al Capone as well as another Mad Max movie. Hey, we’ll take Tom Hardy wherever we can get him.
