USA Beats Jamaica with Last Minute Goal at 2017 Gold Cup Soccer Final

GOOOOOAAAAAAL! Goals scored in soccer are always dramatic. But the one that brought the US to victory over Jamaica in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup might take the cake.

Team USA was facing off against Jamaica for the Gold Cup earlier this week, and it was a nail-biter through most of the second half. The USA took the lead with one goal, but Jamaica immediately caught up thanks to a slip-up by the USA’s forward Jordan Morris.

However, Morris more than redeemed himself by bringing a smash goal in the 88th minute of gameplay. He received a cross from Gyasi Zardes before completing the strike.

This was the American Team’s sixth victory at the Gold Cup since its inception in 1991. Only one other team has more wins–Mexico has won a total of seven times.

Rightfully so, Team USA is celebrating big time.

After this, they’ll be amping up in the hexagonal round in an attempt to qualify for Russia.
